About Les Voix Transatlantiques...

Our Mission

Our association aims to support, develop, and promote theatrical creation at the crossroads of American and French-European artistic cultures. Based in Avignon, our organization serves as a bridge between the vitality of American theater and the rich cultural ecosystem of France and Europe.

We want to introduce American playwrights, performers, and creative teams to French and European audiences, while also providing a platform for intercultural collaboration, training, and artistic research. We seek to offer opportunities for both emerging and experienced artists to develop new work, share practices, and cultivate creative dialogue across borders.

Our Purpose

The purpose of the Association is to:

• create, produce, and promote theatrical works in both professional and amateur forms, with a particular focus on artistic creation in Avignon and throughout France;
• support cultural and artistic exchange amongst France, the United States, and Europe, fostering mutual inspiration and shared creative practices;
• present a diversity of theatrical works – French, American, and European – in order to encourage cultural dialogue and broaden public access to international theatre;
• contribute to cultural education and amateur artistic practice within local communities, especially in Avignon and its surrounding region;
• encourage the development of emerging French and international artists and support collaborations that strengthen the theatrical sector in France.

Our artistic vision focuses on themes of resilience, transformation, and the power of creativity as a tool for self-discovery and emancipation. By presenting works such as Chagall in New York and Ella the Ungovernable, we highlight stories shaped by exile, identity, personal struggle, and artistic liberation, universal narratives that resonate deeply across cultures.

Our association stands for cultural exchange, artistic excellence, and the celebration of diverse creative voices. Through these values, we aim to contribute meaningfully to the cultural landscape of France and to foster lasting connections between American theater and French-European audiences.
